Connecting Minds to Learning

What has taken us so long?

September 17, 2008 · 2 Comments

I think I was officially the last person in the world to purchase a digital camera.  And I suppose I am one of the last remaining people in the universe writing a blog for the very first time.  I have no idea what has taken me so long.

I have developed this blog to share ideas about how we can work together to transform education for students who learn differently…

“When there is something within our reach that will help people,

We should stretch for it with determination.

If the people who will benefit have been misunderstood by society,
We should move even faster.

And if these people are children,

We should ask ourselves what has taken us so long.”

    Thank you for creating this blog – think it is a great idea! Your site:
    • Brings people together who want to explore the use of technology in learning;
    • Provides the opportunity to discuss current and future needs of practitioners and learners;
    • Demonstrates how communication technologies are incorporated in our teaching and learning practice, and to also use these technologies to communicate with colleagues;
    • Provides the opportunity to discuss how changes in society and the global economy have impacted upon education. It provides an avenue to discuss the increasing pressure on finding new ways to allow for personalised learning and for engaging less able, disengaged or marginalised learners; and the need to provide learning services in different ways.
    Valuable quote that often sums up the pressures that educators face is: “We haven’t got the money, so we’ve got to think.” Sir Ernest Rutherford

    LOL I was also slow buying a digital camera but now have two which I can’t live without plus my iphone for instantaneous uploading of photos.

    But the good news is you aren’t the last remaining people to learn how to blog :) . Most people I interact with have limited knowledge of what is a blog. Best of luck with your blogging and good to see you were able to easily add the feedburner email widget to your blog.
